Rachel loves Africa - it's the only home she has ever known. Her missionary parents have let her run as wild and free as the animals she has come to love but an influenza epidemic changes everything. A stuffy old English mansion with a dying old man and criminals who force her to stay there contrast like sunshine and rain with the life she had before. Can she escape a life of deception and find her way home? A little girl grows up to be a strong and admirable woman in a time when it wasn't easy for women to succeed.

Now we know this book is about a thirteen-year-old girl named Rachel who lived in Africa until an influenza outbreak killed her missionary parents, leaving her alone. Instead of help her neighbors she is involved in scheme to inheirit a fortune from a dying, old, English man. We also think that this book would be a very good book to read in anybody's spare time.

what really happens is that 13 year old Rachels lost her parents. And her neighbors tried to pass her off as their daughter. To send her to their father who is very mean to them. Upon arriving to England Rachel and the grandfather become friends.

My partner and I think that this book is about a girl who's parent's died and then she gets sent to live with her realtives in Africa. While there, she has an interest in lions. One of her goals is to hear a lion roar, or to even get a real sharp lions tooth from the one she has admired.

------------------------------------------
In 1919, in British East Africa, 13- year old Rachel loses her missionary parents during an influenza epidemic. Instead of her neighbors, the Pritchards, helping her, they involve her in a scheme to pass her off as their daughter and send her to visit thier father who has disinherited them. Upon arriving in England,Rachel and the seriously ill grandfather develop a surprisingly strong affectionate relationship. Rachel coninues the scheme, believing that one more shock will kill the old gentlman.Rachel continues to grapple with hre dishonesty, grief for her parents and home sickness for Africa.

predictions:My predictions are that some one is going to look for lions. Maybe in a forest or a desert of some kind and whe they find it some thing bad might happen to them.

The book is about Rachel and she lives in East Africa. Her missionary parents die so she has to go live with her grandfather. Her and her grandfather get ill. She does sometshing bad and won't tell him becuase it probably might kill him.

I think the author named it Listening for the lions because, when Rachel goes to England to visit her very ill grandfather she becomes homesick andd wants to go bacck to Africa(were the lions are}.

The reason i think she called it this is that she wants to be free, but she can't yet although shes trying to be strong like a lion to succed her goal.

I think it is called this because when the girsl parents die, she has no one but her next door neighbors, and some other people, and i thinkshe is trying to be strong like a lion.
